Windshield Repair Central Florida

Mobile windshield repair service from American Auto Glass is available throughout central Florida including the cities of Tampa, Clearwater, Spring Hill, Lakeland, and Brooksville. The windshield in your vehicle is made of several thin layers of glass laminated together. When one or more of these layers is damaged by a rock, road debris, or other impact, a space opens up between the glass layers. This space appears as a faint white crack or chip. The deeper the crack or chip goes into the glass layers, the lighter the white spot will appear. It may not seem like much at first but the second your windshield chips or cracks, the glass has lost a significant amount of strength and as time goes on, that damaged area WILL spread.

The concept behind repairing a windshield is simple. Any and all loose pieces of glass are removed from the chip or crack. Then a liquid glass resin is used to fill in the space of the damaged area to restore the windshield's strength and structural integrity.

Cracked Windshield

A windshield repair will NOT make your windshield
look like new.

A proper windshield repair should stop the damage from spreading, thus increasing the life of your windshield. If left untreated, a small crack or chip will eventually destroy your windshield. Small bumps in the road, flying debris, and even slight changes in temperature will cause the damage to spread. If the damage spreads too far, your windshield could fall right out!

What is the cost?

For insured customers, there is no cost for windshield repairs. Your insurance company is more than happy to pay for a windshield repair instead of a replacement.

For everyone else, a windshield repair costs well under $100.

Remember that once your windshield cracks or chips, THE DAMAGE WILL CONTINUE TO GET WORSE UNTIL YOU DO SOMETING ABOUT IT. It could last for a few days, or even a few months. However, the longer you wait, the more likely it is that your windshield cannot be repaired.

When Your Windshield is Not Repairable

Not all windshield damage can be repaired. For instance, damage that has penetrated all the layers of the glass, chips larger than a quarter, and cracks more than 6 inches long have all but eliminated the strength and structural integrity of your windshield. To repair a windshield in this state is extremely dangerous and is against our policy at American Auto Glass.
